The short answer
Brevo is a good platform, but it charges for the emails you send, not your contacts: if you email often, the bill grows with every newsletter and every automation. The free plan allows 300 emails a day, with Brevo’s branding. If you send at least once a week, a platform that charges by contacts usually costs less: with 5,000 contacts and a weekly newsletter, Brevo Starter costs €28 a month and Spedito €15, with up to 50,000 emails included. Below are the alternatives, prices checked on 16 October 2026, and when Brevo is still the right choice.
How Brevo’s pricing works
Brevo, formerly Sendinblue, is a French company with a broad suite: email, SMS, WhatsApp, chat and a CRM. Its price is not based on how many people are on your list but on how many emails you send each month:
- Free plan: up to 300 emails a day, with Brevo’s logo in your emails.
- Starter: from €7 a month for 5,000 emails and 500 contacts. The price then rises with your email volume and, on the lowest tiers, with your list too.
- Standard: the plan Brevo points to if you want to automate and test your campaigns, at a higher price.
Paying per email works when you write rarely to lots of people. It gets expensive when you write often: every extra newsletter, every automated welcome or abandoned-cart email, uses up your plan’s emails.
Why people look for a Brevo alternative
- You email often. With a weekly newsletter you send four times your list every month, and automations come on top.
- The daily cap on the free plan. At 300 emails a day, a newsletter to 1,000 people goes out over four different days.
- Branding on free emails. On the free plan, Brevo’s logo sits at the bottom of every email.
- Too much stuff. If you only need newsletters and a few automations, a suite with a CRM, chat and SMS is more than you need.
- A bill you have to predict. You need to estimate how many emails you will send; if you need more, you move up a tier. With a contact-based plan you know what you pay each month, however often you write.

The Brevo alternatives, one by one
- Spedito (Europe): priced by contacts, with plenty of emails included (10,000 a month for 1,000 contacts), so you can write every week without doing sums. No daily cap after the first 14 days, none of our branding even on the free plan, data in the EU. The full comparison is in Spedito vs Brevo.
- MailerLite (Lithuania): priced by contacts, with an easy editor. Free for up to 250 subscribers, then from $12 a month.
- EmailOctopus (UK): priced by contacts and pared back, $13.50 a month for 1,000 contacts.
- Mailjet (France): also charges per email, and is handy if you mostly send transactional emails. Free for up to 6,000 emails a month and 200 a day.
- CleverReach and rapidmail (Germany): priced by contacts, widely used in German-speaking countries.
- Sender (Lithuania): a big free plan, 2,500 subscribers and 15,000 emails a month, with its branding.
When Brevo is still the right choice
Brevo isn’t expensive for everyone. It is still a good pick if:
- you have a huge list and rarely write: with 25,000 contacts and one newsletter a month, paying per email beats paying per contact;
- you need SMS and WhatsApp in the same tool;
- you send lots of transactional emails (order confirmations, password resets) from the same platform;
- your sales team already works in Brevo’s CRM.
How to switch from Brevo
- In Brevo, export your contacts to a CSV file from the Contacts section, blocklisted contacts included.
- In Spedito, drop the file into the import: we recognise Brevo’s format, and anyone blocklisted or unsubscribed stays unsubscribed.
- Verify your domain, then recreate your signup form and welcome automation.
- If you also used Brevo for transactional emails, move those before closing the account.
Frequently asked questions
Is Brevo free?
Yes, with a free plan of up to 300 emails a day and Brevo’s logo in your emails. With a list of a few thousand people it gets awkward: every newsletter is split over several days.
What is the cheapest Brevo alternative?
It depends on how often you write. With a weekly newsletter, Spedito costs less than every platform in our table at every list size: €9 a month for 2,500 contacts against €21 for Brevo Starter. If you email a very large list once a month, Brevo can cost less.
Is Brevo European? Is Spedito?
Yes, Brevo is a French company. Spedito is European too and keeps your data in the European Union: the database is in Frankfurt and emails go out from servers in Ireland.
Do I lose my unsubscribed contacts when I leave Brevo?
No: export them with the others. Spedito recognises the blocklisted column in Brevo’s export and keeps those people unsubscribed.
