Free email subject line generator

Write a couple of lines about your newsletter or promotional email: the AI suggests five different subject lines, short and honest, ready to copy wherever you like. Below, you can also check a subject line you wrote yourself.

What you type is sent to our AI provider only to write the suggestions. We don’t save it.

Check your subject line

How to write a subject line that gets opened

  • Short and specific. Phones often show only the first 35–40 characters, so put the important words first.
  • Say what is inside. “The autumn menu is here” beats “News!”: people open what they understand.
  • Use the preview text. The line shown under the subject finishes the message: don’t leave it empty.
  • No shouting capitals or rows of exclamation marks. They look like spam, to people and to filters.
  • Keep the promise. A subject line that promises something the email doesn’t deliver costs you trust and unsubscribes.
  • Test two versions. With an A/B test you send two subject lines to part of your list, and the winner goes to everyone else.

Subject line examples for small businesses

  • Welcome: “Welcome to Rossi Bakery: here is your gift”.
  • Newsletter: “3 dinner ideas for this week”.
  • Promotion: “Early access to the sale, from tomorrow”.
  • Event: “Tasting in the shop on Thursday: are you in?”.
  • Reminder: “Your appointment on Tuesday at 10”.
  • Review request: “How did it go? It takes a minute”.

What this generator does (and doesn’t do)

The generator suggests five different subject lines: one plain and clear, one that sparks curiosity, one with the main benefit, one more personal and one very short. It never invents prices, discounts or dates you didn’t write: if you want a number in the subject line, put it in the description.

The check below uses rules of thumb, not a score: length, capitals, exclamation marks and emoji. The only way to know which subject line works with your customers is to test it.

Frequently asked questions

Is the generator free?

Yes, with no sign-up. To prevent abuse you can make a few requests an hour; with a Spedito account, free for up to 500 contacts, the AI also helps you write your emails.

How long should an email subject line be?

There is no magic number, but phones often cut the subject line after about 40 characters. Keep it short, with the important words first, and use the preview text to finish the thought.

Do emoji in subject lines help?

One, if it suits your brand, can make the email stand out. More are distracting and can look like spam. If in doubt, run an A/B test.

Which languages does it support?

English, Italian, Spanish, French and German: pick the language of the email, even if you describe it in another one.
